Crowley, King Ocean Ink New Vessel Sharing Agreement

Crowley Caribbean Services and King Ocean Services have entered into a vessel sharing agreement (VSA) that will expand their reach to Central America, Florida’s Port Everglades informed.

King Ocean will also sail its own ship from Port Everglades to Costa Rica for the first time as the VSA calls for alternating ships weekly with Crowley on this route.

“We now have direct service to Port Everglades from Costa Rica and Panama instead of stopping in Miami first,” Franco Da Costa Gomez from King Ocean, said.

The agreement also authorizes Crowley to charter space to King Ocean in the trade from the US East Coast to Trinidad, and authorizes King Ocean to charter space to Crowley in the trade from the East Coast to St. Lucia and Barbados.

The deal allows the parties to charter space to each other on an as needed/as available basis for the northbound movement of empty containers.

Separately, Crowley said it intends to begin fixed-day, weekly sailings on August 9, between Florida, Costa Rica and Panama.

Crowley’s vessels will sail southbound from Florida on Wednesdays from the Port of Jacksonville, and Fridays from Port Everglades, and will arrive on Tuesdays in Puerto Limon, Costa Rica, and on Wednesdays in Manzanillo, Panama.

Northbound, the ships will depart on Wednesdays from Panama and Fridays from Costa Rica, then arrive on Tuesdays in Port Everglades and on Wednesdays in Jacksonville.
