Crystal to Return to Northwest Passage in 2017

Crystal Serenity, Crystal Cruises’ luxury ocean ship will sail a 32-day expedition voyage traversing the Arctic Ocean from Anchorage/Seward, Alaska to New York City via the Northwest Passage (500 miles north of the Arctic Cirle) in August 2017, marking the company’s return to the Northwest Passage.

Beginning in August 2016, Crystal Serenity ventured into the northern route and due to the increased interest of travelers for the route, the company decided to return to Northwest Passage also in 2017.

“Given the tremendous response to our inaugural Northwest Passage sailing in 2016, it’s clear that discerning travelers continue to value rare and memorable experiences as much as they prize unmatched luxury.” said Edie Rodriguez, Crystal’s CEO and President.

The first call in the Canadian Arctic is planned for the Hamlet of Ulukhaktok, Northwest Territories, located 1,400 miles from the North Pole.

Crystal informed previously about its plans to reposition Crystal Serenity’s 2017 voyages during the spring and summer to Alaska and coastal itineraries.

The company plans to cooperate with Expedition Voyage Consulting by Eyos Expeditions, expedition providers, and it has also gathered information and resources from field experts in creation of the expedition voyage.

The route will encompass ports of call starting from Alaska to New York as a final port, with the waterways connecting the North Pacific Ocean with the North Atlantic Ocean.
