DEC Extends Public Comment Period on Proposed LNG Regulations

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has extended the public comment period on proposed regulations to set criteria for the construction and operation of new liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities under DEC permits, Commissioner Joe Martens announced.

The proposed regulation would require permits for facilities that store LNG or convert it back to a gas.

All comments will be considered as DEC proceeds with the rulemaking process. At the conclusion of the public comment period, DEC staff will review all comments received and may make changes to address comments.

The comment period runs through December 4, 2013. A public meeting was held in Syracuse on October 16, 2013 and a public meeting and public hearing will be held in Albany on October 30, 2013.
