The event will take place on Tuesday, June 24, at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel, Aberdeen, from 12-2pm. This month’s event will include presentations from ABB Consulting, Aberdeen Harbour, Quickflange UK Ltd and ThinkPR.

DNS chief executive Brian Nixon said: “We are delighted to welcome such a diverse group of speakers to this month’s lunch and learn session. The industry has recognised the opportunities decommissioning presents and with a projected spend of £40.6 billion in the UK waters between now and 2040, this is a time of unprecedented opportunity for the local economy.”

Speaking at the event, Aberdeen Harbour will describe its prospective expansion plans. It will provide details of the proposed deep water facilities which will be able to accommodate the new generation of larger subsea vessels required to support complex projects and decommissioning activities, and its benefits of improved access by road and rail.

Aberdeen Harbour Director Chris Bain, explains: “We believe that our proposed development would provide many benefits for our customers, including increased berthing certainty, and the ability to accommodate the larger subsea vessels. By having the capability to accommodate these vessels in Aberdeen, close to the well-established supply chain and subsea centre of excellence, we believe our customers could avoid the cost and risk associated with road transportation of materials to and from alternative ports.”

ABB Consulting is a specialist in the project services division, offering support to blue chip clients from the oil and gas, petrochemical, and chemical industries.  For the past 30 years ABB Consulting has supported operators by providing asset life extension, audits, inspections and late life services through to decommissioning studies. During the presentation ABB Consulting will cover its commercial strategy and its focus on maximising value through metal and asset recovery and minimising cost through ‘smart’ decommissioning.

Quickflange UK Limited is a specialist in the brownfield piping market and will appraise attendees of its ability to reduce or eliminate shutdown time, and generally attend to pipe work connection, repair, maintenance and modification in a fraction of the time taken to weld, with less people and resources.

ThinkPR is a specialist energy PR & Marketing firm. CEO Annabel Sall, will illustrate how PR & Marketing activity can support overall business growth, giving examples of results. She will also explain the invaluable “golden rules’’ companies should follow for emergency response planning and activity, including a case study of how these were applied in a crisis situation.

To continue its mission to encourage safe, efficient and cost-effective decommissioning activity across the North Sea, DNS is planning a learning journey to Norway in June 2014, ongoing training courses across the UK its first being on 25 June in Aberdeen.
