DEME orders another LNG dredger

Belgian dredging company DEME said on Monday it has ordered another dual-fuel dredger at the Dutch shipyard Royal IHC.

The dual-fuel engines can either be run on diesel fuel or liquefied natural gas (LNG).

IHC will provide the turnkey delivery of the entire vessel, including the dredging, electrical and hydraulic installations and the automation system.

Named “Bonny River”, the 15,000m3 trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) will be built by Cosco at its shipyard in Guangdong, China, DEME said.

This is the third TSHD that DEME currently has on order with Royal IHC. DEME ordered two dredgers with dual fuel engines and LNG tanks in April of 2015.
