Belgian dredging specialist DEME ordered a dual-fuel offshore installation vessel at the COSCO Shipyard in China.

The vessel, named Orion will be deployed by DEME’s unit GeoSea for the construction of the largest offshore wind farms, to service the oil and gas industry and for decommissioning of offshore installations.

With a total installed capacity of 44,180 kW Orion will be equipped with a crane with a lifting capacity of 3,000 tons at more than 50 meters. The loads can be lifted to a height of more than 170 m.

The vessel has duel fuel engines capable of running on liquefied natural gas (LNG).

The 216.5 meters long Orion can accommodate a crew of up to 131 people and is scheduled for delivery in 2019.
