Desire continues Wireline operations at Liz 14/19-1 well

PORT STANLEY Desire Petroleum has delayed terminating Liz 14/19-1, its first exploration well in the North Falklands basin, where wireline operations are continuing.

Interpretation of logs received to date suggests that the deepest play type remains un-drilled. Desire intends therefore to deepen the well by a further 200 m (656 ft) to test this play, subject to operational constraints.

On the lower section of the well, wireline logging and sampling have been completed, mainly below 3,400 m (11,155 ft) sub-surface where the deeper gas shows were encountered. Petrophysical interpretation indicates that gas pay has been penetrated, but that reservoir quality in this section is poor.

Desire adds that wireline sampling and pressure recording remain to be performed on the primary Liz target and on other zones where hydrocarbon shows were encountered. It expects to finally complete the well late next week.
