Det norske oljeselskap ASA has signed a Letter of Intent for deliveries from Siemens. A final contract will comprise deliveries of a complete integrated electric power, instrumentation, controls and communication system related to the development of the platform for the Ivar Aasen field in the North Sea.

The total value of such a delivery will amount to several hundred million NOK.

“An agreement like this will significantly impact the development of expertise related to oil and gas solutions in the Trondheim region, and will contribute to major value creation and employment of more than a hundred engineers for several years to come,” says Project Manager Facilities in Det norske, Snorre Fossum.

For Siemens, an agreement such as this is exciting with regard to the development of the engineering communities in both Trondheim and Oslo.

“Deliveries such as these constitute the “central nervous system” of a platform. This provides us with the opportunity to utilize the combination of advanced technology and extensive operating experience in a unique manner”, states Senior Vice President in Siemens Oil & Gas, Richard Jaros.

The engineering will be performed from Siemens’ own locations, inter alia in Trondheim and in Oslo. In sum, approximately 100 persons from Siemens will be involved in the project. In addition, engineers from Siemens will participate in a so-called integrated team under the management of and in cooperation with the employer.

Det norske is the operator of Ivar Aasen (license 001B) with a 35 percent interest share. Partners are Statoil (50 percent) and Bayerngas Norge (15 percent).
