Diana Shipping Inks Charter Deals for Two Bulkers

Greek dry bulk shipowner Diana Shipping has secured charter contracts for two of its vessels with Uniper Global Commodities and Phaethon International Company.

Under the respective deals, the company’s Post-Panamax bulker Amphitrite and Panamax Naias are expected to generate USD 12.22 million of gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period of the time charters.

Uniper Global Commodities hired the 98,697 dwt Amphitrite for a period of fourteen to seventeen months. The gross charter rate is USD 5,000 per day for the first five days of the charter period and USD 12,750 per day for the balance period of the time charter.

The 2012-built Amphitrite, which started working for Uniper on January 27, was previously chartered to Cargill International at a rate of USD 11,150 per day.

Diana Shipping’s 73,546 dwt Naias started working for Phaethon International Company on January 26. Under the deal, the 2006-built vessel would earn a gross charter rate of USD 10,000 per day for a period of twenty-three to about twenty-six months.
