Diana Shipping Signs One, Extends Another Charter Deal

Athens-based owner of dry bulk vessels Diana Shipping has decided to enter into a new time charter contract for one of its Post-Panamax ships and extend the present time charter for its Capesize bulker.

As informed, the company will charter out its vessel Amphitrite to Geneva-based Cargill International S.A.

The gross charter rate for the 2012-built vessel is USD 11,150 per day for a period of minimum thirteen to maximum sixteen months. The charter is expected to commence in late September 2017.

The 98,697 dwt Amphitrite is currently chartered to Bunge S.A., Geneva, at a gross charter rate of USD 7,700 per day.

The employment is anticipated to generate approximately USD 4.35 million of gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period of the time charter, Diana Shipping said.

Furthermore, the company has agreed to extend the present time charter contract with RWE Supply & Trading GmbH, Essen, Germany, for G. P. Zafirakis.

The gross charter rate is USD 15,000 per day for a period of about fourteen to maximum seventeen months, with the new charter period expected to start on August 14, 2017.

Built in 2014, G. P. Zafirakis is currently chartered at a gross charter rate of USD 6,500 per day.

The employment of the 179,492 dwt Capesize bulker is anticipated to generate approximately USD 6.08 million of gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period of the time charter, according to the company.

Diana Shipping’s fleet currently comprises 51 dry bulk vessels. As of August 4, the combined carrying capacity of the company’s fleet is approximately 5.9 million dwt with a weighted average age of 8.01 years.
