DP World’s TRP Uses Navis N4 Terminal Operating System
Navis, the global technology standard for managing the movement of cargo through terminals, yesterday announced that DP World’s Terminales Rio de la Plata (TRP), the largest container facility in Argentina, successfully went live on the Navis N4 terminal operating system (TOS).
Following nearly 20 years of continued partnership with Navis, TRP upgraded to N4 to drive critical improvements in operational performance and customer service excellence.
A Navis SPARCS and Express customer since 1994, Buenos Aires-based Terminales Rio de la Plata handles containers from deep-sea vessels from Europe, Asia and North America, as well as feeders vessels to both the East and West coasts of South America and barges upriver to Rosario.
The facility made the strategic investment in N4 to modernize their systems and improve operational performance with enhanced reporting functionality and centralized yard, gate, rail and inspections events. With N4, TRP is improving the overall service that is delivered to their customers.
Following a collaborative implementation process with Navis and the terminal’s regional team, TRP successfully went live with N4 on October 12, 2013. Since that time, N4 has delivered several benefits including: better shipside and rail performance, improved ease of reporting, decreased customization needs, productivity gains for IT staff, streamlined billing functionality and event monitoring, and remote access for terminal management.
“In order to take our operations to the next level and position our terminal for future success, we needed a world-class technology partner by our side. Since 1994, that company continues to be Navis,” said Ricardo Alvarez, operations director for Terminales Rio de la Plata. “In just the few weeks since the official go-live, we’re pleased with the improvements offered by the new platform and are confident that this strategic investment will yield many more for our customers in the coming months.”
“TRP’s migration from SPARCS Express to N4 reinforces the importance of modernizing systems to keep up with the growing productivity pressures that terminals are currently experiencing,” said Martin Bardi, Senior Director, Americas, for Navis. “Our historic knowledge about the facility was also advantageous, as we were able to minimize disruptions during the integration and drive improvements almost immediately. We are proud to continue to serve as TRP’s TOS platform of choice, and look forward to our continued partnership for the next 20 years.”
N4 is Navis’ latest generation TOS, allowing customers the flexibility and scalability needed to run their operations – from a single terminal to multiple terminals spanning numerous geographic locations managed from one central location.
