Dreifa Energy, Bernhard Schulte join forces on floating regas solution

Oslo-based Dreifa Energy said it has teamed up with Germany’s Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement to materialise its floating LNG regasification solution.

Dreifa is a new company established by Flex LNG co-founders, Jostein Ueland and Trym Tveitnes that left Flex LNG earlier this year. Ueland and Tveitnes joined forces with a third colleague, Henrik Austgulen, to form Dreifa.

Dreifa says it is developing a floating regasification terminal for mid-scale LNG import. The terminal concept consists of regasification and related utilities on a suited floating structure (FRU), operating in combination with a standard LNG carrier acting as the floating storage unit (FSU).

The company is now in the process of maturing the design to a level required for firming up equipment and construction cost, seeking approvals from classification societies and placing orders for long lead items, Dreifa said in its statement.

As per the deal signed with Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement, the two companies will cooperate through the different phases of the project.

“BSM will be actively involved to ensure safe and reliable design based on best practices from decades of experience, successful execution of the conversion project and high quality operation of the Dreifa terminals.”

According to the statement, the aim is to have the first Dreifa FRU available for start-up in the second half of 2018.
