Confirming the order for an LNG carrier from a shipping company from Oceania, DSME said that the latest contract brings its ordering tally for LNG carriers to 17.

As disclosed, the latest ship will be built at Geoje Okpo shipyard and it will be delivered in the first half of 2021.

A DSME spokesperson said that this was the first time the company had met 90% of its orderbook target in the last four years, since 2014.

“We will do our best to achieve our order target until the end,” he added.

DSME’s orderbook for this year includes 17 LNG carriers, 16 crude oil carriers, 16 containerships and 5 special purpose ships.

The announcement comes after DSME’s compatriot builder HHI said it had exceeded its orderbook, reaching USD 13.3 billion.
