Ebola Scare Delays Work at Baltimore

Port of Baltimore dockers refused to load a roll-on/roll-off ship bound for West Africa Thursday amid fears of Ebola virus being onboard.

The Longshoremen’s Union stopped loading used vehicles onto the Panamanian-flagged Silver Soul, which had previously called in Jacksonville, Fla., without problems.

The work resumed after the US Coast Guard cleared the ship as safe.

According to port officials, the only trade to west Africa from the Port of Baltimore is exported used cars and heavy machinery. No cargo is imported from West Africa to the Port of Baltimore.
