Contracts were signed on 28 May 2014 in Hamburg. The wind farm Sandbank is located in the German North Sea and is realised by the power companies Vattenfall (51%) and Stadtwerke München (49%).

In total 72 monopiles and transition pieces are being produced with a total weight of 78,000 tons. The average diameter of the piles is 6.4 metres and they are meant to be placed at a water depth of 25 to 34 metres. EEW SPC will subcontract the transition pieces to the Danish company Bladt Industries in Aalborg.

Commencement of production is scheduled for the end of 2014 at EEW SPC in Rostock. The project is very important for the utilization of the plant. The production of the foundations for Sandbank will ensure that EEW SPC will be working to full capacity until midyear 2015.

The wind farm located 90 km of the isle of Sylt is intended to deliver electricity for 500,000 households annually as off 2017.
