World Maritime University’s mission to promote the international exchange and transfer of maritime best practice to a maritime hub of Middle East is reflected by this partnership.

EIMA had earlier launched Mission 2020 in association with Aries International Maritime Research Institute (AIMRI), a premier i-university imparting high quality Maritime technical education, which will place a number of initiatives to bring qualified and competent nationals into the industry and provide them growth opportunities to become leaders of the future.

The MoU with WMU will contribute to the realization of Mission 2020 by promoting academic information exchange between the two entities, foster education in WMU’s degree programs, further the development of professional courses, distance education and field training, promote research, technical, and scientific cooperation and exchange of faculty members.

Located within DMC, the hub of maritime activity in the Middle East, EIMA focuses on developing and improving the skills of future generations by enabling them to work onboard ships as officers and engineers.

Courses offered by EIMA and its partners are internationally accredited and recognized through professional bodies, institutions and renowned universities and include accreditations under IMO, SOLAS, OPITO, NTA and DNV, making EIMA a one- stop-shop for all aspects of marine and maritime education.

Practical exposure will be offered through EIMA’s association with Drydocks World and Maritime World which can cater to all types of technical training at its training centre. The current infrastructure at EIMA can accommodate up to 20,000 students a year and the plan is to develop a maritime centre of excellence including the establishment of a research institute with the largest Towing Tank facility in the world.

This centre will enable industry players in the shipping, maritime, oil, gas, energy and offshore industry to fully meet their skill requirements and attract a global student base in the UAE by 2020.
