Ektank’s New Tankers to Feature FKAB Design

Gothenburg-based shipowner Ektank’s new 18,600 dwt intermediate product/chemical tankers will be built to a design jointly developed by Swedish ship designer Fartygskonstruktioner (FKAB) and Ektank.

The project, FKAB T28 is a 22 700 m3, Oil product & Chemical Tier II tanker, designed for low fuel consumption and high cargo capacity with a density of 1,54 ton/m3.

The vessels, featuring a length of 154 meters, and a breadth of 23,75 meters, were ordered from Chinese shipbuilder CSSC Chengxi Shipyard in April 2016.

The order is said to be the first one for chemical tankers placed at CSSC Chengxi, which had been focusing on bulk carriers so far.

The new tankers are scheduled for delivery in 2018.

Ektank operates a fleet of five small clean tankers, ranging from 13,800 dwt to 17,000 dwt.
