Elengy, Gate to cooperate on LNG truck loading and bunkering

Elengy, an Engie company, and operator of three French LNG terminals, signed a memorandum of understanding with Gate terminal to cooperate in LNG truck loading and bunkering. 

According to a joint statement, the two companies share the view that the European gas market is becoming more interconnected, noting that LNG services can strengthen this trend by developing multi-site features.

In regards to truck loading services, Elengy and Gate terminal intend to work on standardizing practices to in order to make truck loading safer, simplified and an efficient service. In addition to truck loading, the two companies agreed to study plans to support the rise of LNG logistics by small carriers, and further enhance the use of LNG as a marine fuel.

Elengy has already doubled the LNG truck loading capacity at the Fos Tonkin terminal located on the shores of the Mediterranean. In total, the three terminals operated by Elengy, the Fos Tonkin, Montoir-de-Bretagne, and Fos Cavaou are capable of loading almost 600 trucks per year.

It has also revealed plans to add a new LNG truck loading station at the Montoir-de-Bretagne terminal, doubling the facility’s current capacity of 70 loading operations per week.

The Dutch Gate terminal located at the port of Rotterdam, with its shareholders Gasunie and Vopak, has also recently opened its third LNG jetty able to load volumes from 1,000-cbm up to 20,000-cbm.

Shell, the launching customer of the new facility, performed the first loading at the new jetty on September 19. The Hague-based LNG giant loaded a cargo aboard the Anthony Veder-owned 7,500-cbm Coral Methane for delivery to AGA AS, a Swedish industrial gas company.
