Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (EMR) has been selected as the main uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems provider for Shell’s Prelude FLNG project.

The company will help provide reliable standby power for critical process functions, such as the main automation systems, fire and gas detection systems, and telecommunications. Emerson’s Chloride industrial-grade UPS systems are designed to supply backup power in the most demanding environments for a lifetime of more than 20 years.

In 2010, Emerson Process Management, another global business of Emerson, was selected as the Main Automation Contractor for the Shell Prelude development.

Shell’s Prelude FLNG project, the world’s first floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) project, is currently under construction in Korea for deployment to the Browse Basin off the coast of Western Australia.
