EMGS to start Barents Sea survey

Electromagnetic Geoservices ASA, Norwegian provider of electromagnetic (EM) technology used support oil and gas companies in their search for offshore oil, has received a new contract.

EMGS says that the contract, worth NOK 10 million (USD 1.7 million), is from a repeat customer for 3D EM data acquisition in the Barents Sea.

The survey will begin this month. The BOA Thalassa vessel will be used for the operation.

The vessel of the MT 6007 design is one of the world’s first custom built-ships for seabed logging operations to detect hydrocarbons beneath the seabed. The ship’s length overall is 80,35 m with a beam of 16,40m.
