Eni Strengthens its Cooperation with Angolan National Oil Company Sonangol

Eni signed three agreements in Luanda to further strengthen its cooperation with the Angolan national oil company, Sonangol.

Through the agreements signed by Sonangol Chairman Manuel Vicente and by Eni E&P COO Claudio Descalzi, the two companies have established the framework for the development of joint mining initiatives in Angola and abroad, the execution of a pilot project in food and biodiesel and non associated gas development projects related to block 15/06 in Angola.

The agreement is a further step in the consolidation of Eni’s presence in Angola, strengthening its commitment to the Angolan oil industry as an operator and to the socio-economic and environmental growth of the country.

The framework agreement follows the Production Sharing Contract (PSC) for Block 35 pre-salt exploration area in the deepwater Kwanza Basin, which was signed on December 20, and the Memorandum of Understanding, signed on November 22, for the realization of a feasibility study aimed at building a new refinery in Lobito.

This operation confirms Angola as one of the key countries in the company’s organic growth strategy.
