Excelerate Files with FERC to Build FLNG Export Terminal

Excelerate Energy’s subsidiary, Excelerate Liquefaction Solutions (ELS), filed an application with the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to construct, and operate two floating liquefaction, storage, and offloading units (FLSO) and related facilities to be located in and around the Port of Port Lavaca-Point Comfort, Texas.

Each proposed FLSO will have an LNG peak production capacity of up to 5 million tonnes per annum. Excelerate said it plans to build the LNG project in two phases with one FLSO to be constructed in each phase.

“Excelerate respectfully requests that the Commission issue a final Order authorizing the construction and operation of both phases of the Project no later than January 2015 to allow Excelerate sufficient time to complete construction activities in a timely manner and to coordinate the commissioning date for the first liquefaction facilities at the LNG Terminal,” the company added.
