Extreme weather suspends ‘Safe Bristolia’
- Business & Finance
Prosafe, a Cyprus-based owner of offshore accommodation rigs, has informed its accommodation rig Safe Bristolia has sustained damage in a storm last week.
The company has said that last week, operation of the rig was suspended due to damages sustained to lifeboats after experiencing extreme weather. The rig will be demobilised from the field for repair works to be conducted.
The rig was operating at the Everest field for BG Group, in the central North Sea.
Prior to starting the BG contract, Safe Bristolia was off-hire for nine days after completion of the contract with ConocoPhillips at the Judy field in the UK.
Prosafe has also reported that the fleet utilisation rate in the third quarter of 2014 was 96 per cent.
Safe Bristolia was converted to a service/accommodation vessel at Yantai Raffles Shipyard in China in 2006. In 2007/2008 it underwent further refit and modification work to qualify it for work in the UK North Sea.
Safe Bristolia offers accommodation for 316 (UKCS) to 587 persons. It can operate in benign and moderately harsh environments.
