ExxonMobil Australia Names New Chairman

Richard J. Owen has been appointed to the position of Chairman of the ExxonMobil Australia Group of Companies, based in Melbourne, Australia.

Mr. Owen joined the Esso Company in Australia as an engineer in Sale and Sydney in 1983. Throughout his 30 year career with ExxonMobil, Mr. Owen has held senior technical and executive positions with the company around the world including assignments in Melbourne, Houston, Alaska, Hannover and Jakarta.

A native of Australia, he holds a Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Sydney and is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Concurrently with Mr Owen’s appointment, ExxonMobil Australia’s current Chairman John R. Dashwood will become Vice President, Americas, ExxonMobil Gas & Power Marketing Company, located in Houston, Texas.

ExxonMobil has a 25% stake in Australia’s huge Gorgon LNG project and the company is also the operator of the Scarborough gas field located off the coast of Western Australia. The company has commenced the environmental referral process for a Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) development option for the gas field.
