ExxonMobil takes TechnipFMC’s subsea equipment for Liza

Oilfield services provider TechnipFMC has been awarded a contract by ExxonMobil for the engineering, manufacture, and delivery of subsea equipment for the proposed Liza deepwater project, off Guyana.

TechnipFMC said on Tuesday that the award scope includes seventeen total enhanced vertical deepwater trees and associated tooling, as well as five manifolds and associated controls and tie-in equipment.

Hallvard Hasselknipe, President of Subsea Projects at TechnipFMC, said: “We are pleased that ExxonMobil has selected TechnipFMC for the Liza subsea equipment. We value our long-term, collaborative relationship with ExxonMobil and we are committed to execution excellence and the successful long-term development of the project in Guyana.”

Liza is operated by an ExxonMobil affiliate, Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Limited. It is located in the Stabroek block approximately 193 kilometers offshore Guyana in waters depths of 1,500 meters to 1,900 meters. This greenfield development has an estimated recovery in excess of 1 billion oil-equivalent barrels.

Apart from Liza, the Stabroek block holds the Payara and Snoek discoveries.

So far, ExxonMobil drilled three wells at the Liza discovery. The Liza-1 well was drilled in March 2015 while the Liza-2 well was drilled in June 2016. The Liza-3 well was drilled in October last year, and ExxonMobil awarded a contract to SBM Offshore to supply an FPSO unit for the Liza development in December.
