Fairmount Tugs Tow FPSO Cidade de Anchieta to Brazil

Fairmount Marine’s super tugs Fairmount Glacier and Fairmount Summit have delivered FPSO Cidade de Anchieta in the Baleia Azul Field, offshore Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Both tugs have towed the Cidade de Anchieta from Singapore to Brazil with a record breaking average speed of 8.4 knots.

After mobilization the Fairmount Class tugs Fairmount Glacier and Fairmount Summit hooked up with the Cidade de Anchieta, which had underwent a fast track upgrading at a shipyard in Singapore. The convoy set sail on June 15 for the 9,500 miles voyage. En route only one bunker stop was made in Cape Town, South Africa. Fairmount Glacier, the lead tug, and Fairmount Summit delivered the Cidade de Anchieta in the Baleia Azul Field in the early morning of August 2.

The 1975 build FPSO is owned by SBM. After modification and upgrading in Singapore to prepare her for a third contract the vessel is renamed in Cidade de Anchieta. The FPSO is leased by Petrobras for a 18 year operation in the Baleia Azul Field.
