Farstad Shipping sheds 1991-built AHTS

Norwegian shipping company Farstad Shipping has sold its 1991-built anchor handling tug and supply vessels.

Farstad Shipping has, through its wholly owned subsidiary Farstad Supply, sold the AHTS Far Sea.

According to the company, delivery of the vessel to the new owner took place on Thursday, March 3, 2016.

The sale of the vessel gave a book loss of NOK 32 million ($3.7M), whereof NOK 30 million ($3.5M) is booked as impairment in the 4Q 2015 accounts, said the company.

After the sale of Far Sea, Farstad Shipping’s fleet consists of 57 vessels where 29 are AHTS, 22 PSV and 6 are subsea vessels, plus one subsea vessel under construction.

Far Sea is a 73.6m long AHTS vessel built by Norwegian shipyard Simek.

In an effort to cut costs, the shipping company recently sold another one of its vessels, the 2002-built PSV, and reduced the size of the organization at the office in Aalesund, Norway by 26 positions.
