Ferry Sinks Off Philippines, at Least 36 Dead

The MBCA Kim-Nirvana ferry has sunk offshore Philippines with 189 people onboard.

As Reuters reports, at least 36 died in the accident, and 127 have survived.

However, there are 26 people still reported as missing.

The ferry sank after leaving the port of Ormoc with 173 passengers and 16 crew onboard.

Coast Guard did not disclose the details of the rescue operation.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, considering human error and bad weather.
