Finland: Kewatec AluBoat Pens Deal for a Series of Fast Pilot Vessels

Oy Kewatec AluBoat Ab and the Swedish Maritime Agency have signed a deal for a series of fast pilot vessels. The deal comes after a protracted procurement program in competition with several Swedish boat yards.

The boats will be based on the company’s earlier series of pilot vessels, delivered to the Finnish piloting agency, Finnpilot Pilotage Oy, and will be built at the company’s facilities in Kokkola, Finland.

”The deal strengthens Kewatec AluBoat’s position in the market for fast pilot vessels in Northern Europe, and is a further reaffirmation that the quality of our products meets very high standards of quality”, says Karl Erik Wargh, CEO of the company.

The boats will be delivered during this year and the following. The value of the deal is in excess of SEK 44 million (approx $6.9 Mln), options included.

Oy Kewatec AluBoat Ab is a Finnish boat yard, based in Kokkola, specialised in professional boats for demanding use, built in Aluminium. The Swedish Maritime Agency, Sjöfartsverket, is a Swedish government agency, and amongst it duties is the provision of piloting services in the Swedish maritime territory. Each year its pilots perform around 40 000 piloting missions.
