Fire Reported on SeaRose FPSO (Canada)

A fire outbreak has been reported onboard the SeaRose FPSO, moored in the Atlantic, offshore Newfoundland, Canada.

According to CBC, the fire broke out Tuesday evening in the FPSO’s pump room, but was quickly extinguished. No injuries have been reported so far.

Furthermore, CBC reports that Husky Energy, the operator of the FPSO, will now begin an investigation into the reasons of the incident.

The SeaRose FPSO has recently returned from Belfast, Northern Ireland, where it underwent maintenance work. It has been reconnected following the stay in Harland and Wolff ‘s dry-dock in Belfast and is expected to get back to production in the third quarter, as per schedule. An infill production well was drilled at the White Rose field and will be brought online once production resumes.

This is the second fire outbreak on the FPSO in just a couple of months. Back in May, a small fire was detected in the vessel’s Power Generator C. The unit was shut down and the fire suppression system immediately extinguished the fire.

Canada’s largest energy company, Husky Energy, uses the SeaRose FPSO at its White Rose offshore field, located in the Jeanne d’Arc basin in the North Atlantic Ocean.
