Qatar’s RasGas has delivered its first liquefied natural gas cargo to the Dunkirk LNG regasification terminal in France, under the sales and purchase agreement signed with EDF in June 2016.

The cargo, aboard RasGas’ LNG tanker Murwab, was delivered to the EDF Group on Monday, January 23, following the commencement of commercial operations of the Dunkirk LNG terminal on January 1, 2017.

Under the terms of the SPA, RasGas will supply up to two million tons per annum of Qatari LNG into Dunkirk, complementing the existing long-term SPAs between RasGas ventures and EDF Group subsidiaries, Edison and EDF Trading.

This is the first commercial unloading of LNG carriers at the facility which has an annual regasification capacity of 13 billion cubic and is owned and operated by Dunkerque LNG, a company 65 percent owned by EDF, 25 percent by Fluxys and 10 percent by Total.
