First DP2-Classed Feeder Vessel for CFL

On the 20th of April, CFL launched the first out of a series of ‘Joint Runner’ type DP2 Feeder vessels named Joint Runner 1. The first vessel was built in the Netherlands and her sister vessels are presently under construction at BrodoTrogir Shipyard in Croatia.

The engineering and construction of this series began in 2013, with help from suppliers such as El-Tec, consistent with CFL’s vision on ‘the new generation’ of feeder demands, taking into account the increasingly stricter performance and safety requirements including extensive input from leading organisations from renewables and oil & gas industries. The Joint Runners will enable clients of CFL to lower their total and project logistics costs by reducing turn around times and providing safer and faster cargo handling in port and offshore.

The joint runners

The Joint Runner 1 is a multipurpose supply- and feeder vessel with more than sufficient DP2 capability to serve customers worldwide in every aspect of their logistical challenges and needs. The vessel is 128 metres long and has two 120 mt pedestal cranes as well as two 56 mt driving gantry cranes for hatch and cargo handling. Next to that, the Joint Runner 1 has a 82,5 metre long cargo hold including open top notation and 108 metre free deck space. Furthermore, the vessel has total propulsion of 8,600KW and a transit speed of 14 knots consuming HFO and/or MGO fuel. All ‘Joint Runner’ vessels will be operated by Amsterdam based CFL Offshore and are available for charters and projects worldwide. The Joint Runner 1 has been towed to Harlingen where it will be finished by Barkmeijer Shipyards.
