France - Chantiers Piriou Shipyard Delivers New Vessel

CHANTIERS PIRIOU’s shipbuilding subsidiary in Concarneau (France), has just delivered the new ship, ordered in 2010 for services to islands off Brest, to the ‘Conseil général du Finistère’(CG29).

This contract has generated approximately €M13 of sales, and sustained activity for approximately 70 persons over 12 months for the Concarneau shipyard and its regional subcontractors, adding a social aspect via job creation schemes: it resulted in 1,500 hours of work performed in the context of this work experience scheme for persons experiencing social difficulties.

This build confirms the favourable position PIRIOU enjoys in the market for high-added value passenger ships and follows on from the ship delivered in 2009 to the ‘Conseil Général de la Gironde (CG33). This new ship in the departmental fleet meets both the CG29′s stringent demands in terms of sustainable development and those related to the demanding operational conditions specific to daily services to the Finistère Islands in the Iroise Sea.
