 Marseille Port Authority Announces Expansion Plans

The Port Technology reports that the Marseille Port Authority (GPMM) has announced that it plans to construct a new €60 million intermodal facility.

The terminal, to be located adjacent to the existing Mourepiane Med Europe Container Terminal, will be built and operated by a Progenor-led consortium, comprising of SNCF Geodis, Naviland Cargo, CMA Rail and T3M.

According to the Port Technology, this project will be co-financed by the GPMM and the consortium, which will require an investment of around €60 million.

The container hub, capable of handling up to 150,000 TEU annually, will offer increased rail services to northern France and other European destination to double the French port’s rail-borne container traffic.
