FREIRE-Built RRS “Discovery” Joins NERC

Last July, FREIRE delivered to the Natural Environment Research Council (U.K) (NERC) one of the most advanced oceanographic research vessels in the World.

The vessel is almost 100 m in length and is fitted to carry out all kind of scientific and research missions, including seismic survey. This new research ship will provide a state-of-the-art platform for researchers to address some of the world’s most pressing environmental issues. She will enable them to make measurements of the oceans leading to vital evidence regarding climate change, marine ecosystems and underwater earthquakes and landslides, which will, in turn, deliver significant economic and societal benefits.

This new delivery means one more important achievement for C.N.P. FREIRE to keep strengthening its leading position as highly technological vessel builder.
