FTO Services, C‐Innovation to Provide Hydrate Remediation Services

FTO Services and C-innovation are ready to offer hydrate remediation services to the offshore oil and gas industry. Together, they have manufactured and tested their first hydrate remediation skid.

The purpose of this unit is to remove hydrates in the event they form in subsea facilities. It is an ROV-mounted pump skid which is deployed from a vessel.

“We have been working with C-innovation since FTO was established in 2012 and I am pleased to see the first product of the collaboration between our companies.” said John Griffin, Managing Director of FTO Services.

A unique feature of the hydrate remediation skid is the two 50 gallon bladders which can be filled with various chemicals, including xylene or methanol. Interfaces on the skid allow these bladders to be filled either on the deck or by plugging into existing subsea infrastructure, preventing handling of chemicals at the surface. The skid is equipped with dual intensifier units capable of pumping any fluid from 0 to 15,000 psi. These intensifier units are also able to draw fluid pressure down below ambient, allowing hydrates to be sublimated inside subsea equipment and piping. During pumping operations real-time pressure data is transmitted directly from the skid to the surface to support diagnostics throughout the execution of the subsea work.

“We are excited about our partnership with FTO Services. This partnership gives us the ability to provide turnkey hydrate remediation services to our customers.” said Steven Thrasher, Technical Director of C-innovation.
