GAIL shelves Paradip FSRU project

GAIL of India informed it will not be pursuing the FSRU project at Paradip Port in Odisha.

The company said in a filing that its previous notice dated October 18, calling for Expressions of Interest for becoming a strategic partner in GAIL’s FSRU project has been withdrawn.

The proposed facility was planned to have a Phase 1 send-out capacity of 4 mmtpa with a 170,000 cbm storage capacity, with a planned Phase 2 addition of another 4 mmtpa bringing the total capacity to 8 mmtpa.

GAIL signed a memorandum of understanding with the Paradip Port Trust in October 2013, for the setup of the LNG terminal.
