China Oilfield Services Limited’s (COSL) Shipping Branch has taken delivery of the first of four Havyard 832 Platform Supply Vessels (PSV) “Hai Yang Shi You” from Huangpu Wenchong Shipyard.

The Norwegian Havyard Design & Solutions has delivered the design package for the PSVs.

According to Havyard, this shipment is a part of COSL Shipping Branch’s fleet renewal in order to meet the new requirements of the Chinese and international offshore market.

Havyard said that COSL ordered a design package for the building of four Havyard 832 PSVs in December 2012, and that  the contract for building the vessels was later awarded to Huangpu Wenchong Shipyard.

COSL is a subsidiary of CNOOC, a Chinese oil company with activity in China and internationally.

“Havyard 832 is an advanced design for the PSV sector,” says Chen Linting, General manager of the shipping branch of COSL. “We are glad to take delivery of a high quality vessel from the shipyard. It will become the main force in our middle and deep water offshore sector when she joins our fleet and will increase our competitiveness in the offshore supply service field.”

According to the press release, the vessel will enter into service end of May.
