Gallery: OCV Edda Freya named in Norway

In Kleven’s first naming ceremony for the year, Edda Freya, Østensjø Rederi’s new offshore construction vessel (OCV), was named on Friday, April 15, in Norway.

The 150 m long vessel was launched in August 2015. Edda Freya is designed for cable laying, offshore construction and IMR operations. The vessel has 2,300 m2 of total deck space, and a capacity to accommodate 140 persons.

After leaving the shipyard, Edda Freya will join DeepOcean’s fleet and work on projects offshore Norway with Statoil and Wintershall.

DeepOcean will use Edda Freya for its riser installation contract for the Kristin and Heidrun platforms, located in the Norwegian Sea, awarded by Statoil.

The modification of these platforms is required in preparation of a possible tie-back from the near-by Maria-development in the Norwegian Sea that is operated by Wintershall.
