Gaz Metro pens LNG deal with National Grid

Gaz Métro LNG, a Gaz Métro unit, informed it has signed supply deals with National Grid’s New England gas distribution companies.

Gaz Métro LNG said in a statement on Tuesday that the three-year procurement contracts will provide National Grid with volumes of natural gas delivered in the form of liquefied natural gas to supply its existing storage facilities.

LNG will be produced in Gaz Métro’s liquefaction, storage and regasification plant in Montréal.

Gaz Métro and its partner, Investissement Québec, are currently working on expanding the capacity of the Montréal liquefaction, storage and regasification facility from 3 billion to 9 billion cubic feet.

The work, valued at approximately $120 million, is scheduled for completion in 2016.
