German Offshore Wind to Reach 1.5GW this Year

German wind energy group, Stiftung Offshore-Windenergie, commissioned by the Environment Ministry, has released a report on offshore wind in Germany, said Bloomberg.

According to the report, Germany is planning to reach the figure of 1.5GW of installed offshore wind power capacity this year.

This will be achieved by new ventures such as Global Tech I and Baltic 2 with four other offshore wind projects, which are expected to start this year.

Germany currently has a total of 520MW of installed offshore wind capacity divided between three wind farms in the North and Baltic seas.
