Germany: Liebherr Portal Crane LPS 600 Receives “Crane of the Year” Award

Liebherr Portal Crane LPS 600 Receives Crane of the Year Award

In November 2011, the portal crane LPS 600 won the ‘Crane of the Year’ trophy awarded by the International Bulk Journal, marking Liebherr’s third win in a row in this category. The LPS 600 convinced the international judging panel, represented by several experienced experts in the Maritime Bulk Industry. This bulk handling heavyweight crane impressed the judging panel in particular by its flexible field of application.

The Liebherr Portal Crane LPS is an efficient combination of space-saving portal undercarriage and a flexible mobile harbour crane upper carriage, enabling operation even on narrow quays. Specific customer requirements can be met by a tailor-made portal design. A maximum lifting capacity of 208t and 58m maximum radius make the LPS 600 the right solution for cargo handling concerning vessels up to Super-Post-Panamax class.

In 2011, Liebherr delivered a remarkable total of 49 Mobile Harbour Cranes in 4-rope configuration for dedicated bulk handling. This confirms the ongoing positive market development with 216 deliveries in the past five years

Liebherr’s Mobile Harbour Crane LHM 280 won the first IBJ ‘Crane of the Year’ Award in 2009. In 2010, Liebherr won the category’s award again, with the LHM 500 being the award-winning Mobile Harbour Crane.
