Germany: Nordic Yards to Exhibit at Internationally Renowned Trade Fair NEVA 2011

Nordic Yards, manufacturer of technologically sophisticated and innovative special ships and maritime structures, is exhibiting at the internationally renowned trade fair NEVA 2011 in St. Petersburg in Russia. The group of shipyards with locations in Wismar and Warnemünde is presenting itself and its range of skills from September 20-23, 2011 at Stand 8A02 in Hall 8A.

The focus for Nordic Yards will be on the construction of special ships for Arctic waters, such as ice-breaking oil, chemical and liquid tankers, supply, drilling and research ships as well as offshore projects. One of the reference projects presented in detail at the fair will be completed punctually by the shipyards at the same time as NEVA by the end of September: Nordic Yards in Wismar is building the special Arctic tanker “Nordic AT 19” for the Russian mining company Norilsk Nickel, which is to be deployed between Dudinka and Murmansk.

Russia is and remains a very interesting market for the sector of specialized shipbuilding in Germany,” says Vitaly Yusufov, the owner and Managing Director of Nordic Yards. “The worldwide demand for energy, Russia’s central role in the international trade and the special requirements placed on ships for ice-covered Arctic and Antarctic routes complement one another perfectly. Since their foundation 65 years ago the shipyards have produced more than 900 ocean-going ships of various types.” Vitaly Yusufov explains, “Our references for Arctic conditions: over 100 special ships from ice class 1A (E3) and up, of which the ice-breaking special tanker AT 19, which we are completing on time by the end of September 2011 for our Russian customer Norilsk Nickel, is only the latest contract.”

Tasks which go beyond the conventional transport of goods on the northern trading routes, such as offshore supplies or drilling, require a high level of system integration and a very sophisticated ship design. The shipyards in Wismar and Warnemünde have wide-ranging experience in the design and construction of special ships with which they can meet these high demands.

NEVA 2011 – the 20th trade exhibition and conference on the themes of shipbuilding, shipping and offshore technology – will be attracting an international public to St. Petersburg. The largest trade fair of its type in Russia offers Nordic Yards a suitable platform to present in detail its successes and development of the strategic priorities of the company, ice-breaking and ice-going tonnage, offshore projects and ferries to potential customers.
