Germany: Raytheon Anschütz, Seastema to Supply Sophisticated Bridge Systems to Mega Yachts

The German navigation system manufacturer Raytheon Anschütz and the Italian marine automation provider Seastema have recently entered a frame agreement on the supply of sophisticated bridge systems to mega yachts, in particular if being built at shipyards in the Mediterranean. With the upcoming delivery of an advanced integrated bridge and navigation system the agreement is now operative.

Under the agreement, Raytheon Anschütz will provide bridge and navigation systems from its Synapsis Bridge Control series integrated through an Ethernet network with the Seastema ship automation system in one package.

Tobias Grunwald, Segment Manager for Mega Yachts at Raytheon Anschütz states: “Raytheon Anschütz customizes each bridge system according to the owner’s dedicated requirements. This holds true for system configurations and specific system developments, but also for system architecture and the demand for operating any function at any place. To allow larger system solutions with both, navigation and ship automation, we entered the agreement with Seastema.”

The Synapsis Bridge Control system features multifunctional workstations, which are based on ultra-compact standard PC’s without moving parts and connected through a dual Ethernet bus. The multifunctional workstations are able to perform either chart radar, radar, ECDIS or conning applications, all integrated within a standard software framework. The framework not only offers high scalability of the multifunctional workstations through lifetime, but also provides common interfaces to further ship systems such as ship automation, dynamic positioning (DP) system or CCTV. The Synapsis workstations provide a standardized HMI and a central change of colors and dimming for all navigation applications as well as central handling of alerts and an integrated data quality management to achieve high availability of data and functions for any time safe operation.

In addition to the multifunctional workstations, the Raytheon Anschütz also offers the new touch-screen autopilot NP 5000 for automatic track keeping, the new CAN-bus based steering controls, the complete sensor package as well as tailor-made solutions for mega yachts like the customized Captain’s Display.

Raytheon Anschütz offers a live demonstrate the Synapsis Bridge Control system together with the new generation steering control systems at the 2011 Monaco Yacht Show. The Raytheon Anschütz exhibit is located at stand QP66 / Parvis Piscine.
