Global LNG Services has selected Baker Hughes, a GE Company, to supply a gas turbine for its Main Pass Energy Hub LNG export project located offshore southeast Louisiana in the Gulf of Mexico.

The project, being developed by Global LNG Services’ unit, MPEH, will feature two Liqui-Max vessels, capable of producing a total of 24 million tons of LNG per year, stationed at the deepwater port.

Gas will be sourced through interstate pipelines and pre-processed onshore in the Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama region, Global LNG Services said in its statement.

GLS patented the Liqui-Max vessel design that uses industry standard equipment allowing for an expanded throughput and Capex below $400 per ton of annual liquefaction capacity.

The company notes in its statement this will enable it to deploy a floating tolling fee model with a floor rate of Henry Hub + 15 percent +$1.50/MMBtu for pre-processing and liquefaction, and 50/50 sharing of the liquefaction netback value above the $1.50 level.

After being established in 2013, GLS acquired MPEH company and the MPEH project from Freeport McMoRan Energy in 2016.

Main Pass Energy Hub was initially permitted by the Maritime Administration (MARAD) as an LNG import facility and GLS claims its location in the Gulf of Mexico allows marine vessels to easily access the facility.
