GNL Quebec files for LNG export permission with NEB

GNL Quebec submitted an application to the Canadian National Energy Board to export LNG from the proposed Saguenay liquefaction facility.

The company is asking to export liquefied natural gas for the period of 25 years from a facility that would be able to process about 1.5 bcf of natural gas per day at full capacity, according to regulatory documents.

Estimated investment for the proposed Energie Saguenay project is at C$7 billion ($6.23 billion), and it is being developed by GNL Quebec that is owned by Freestone International and Breyer Capital.

Location proposed for the facility is at the Port of Saguenay, on land owned by the federal government.

Start of plant’s construction is set for 2016, with operations start scheduled for 2019-2020, according to the company.
