Government of Ontario Reveals New 20m Research Boat Huron Explorer I

A new 20-metre research boat – called the Huron Explorer I – will help support commercial and recreational fishing on Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. This new boat was designed and built in Ontario, creating 15 jobs during the 18-month project. It will now be used to research and assess the health of the fish population in the Great Lake.

This information will help establish fishing quotas and monitor the Great Lakes ecosystem. Ensuring a healthy fish population in our lakes for the future and protecting our waters are part of the government’s plan to build a stronger economy and create jobs while protecting the environment.
