GPA, BAE Systems, Rolls Royce to Build Two Jones Act OSVs

Lee Jackson, President & CEO of Jackson Offshore Operators, announced the company has contracted Guido Perla & Associates (GPA), BAE Systems, and Rolls Royce to build two qualified Jones Act offshore support vessels for delivery in 2013 and 2014.

The M/V Thunder and M/V Breeze will be 252-feet long and 60-feet wide. They will be equipped with two Azipull propulsion thrusters, tunnel thrusters, a low-voltage front-end diesel electric system as well as Acon automation and Icon Dynamic Positioning (DP-2) systems – all supplied by Rolls Royce.

“We are delighted to work with Guido Perla & Associates to build the two GPA 675J PSVs as their vessels are proven workhorses in offshore markets around the world,” said Lee Jackson. “Rolls Royce will provide fully integrated power control and propulsion systems, and the vessels will be built at BAE Systems’ Jacksonville, Florida facility. Upon Delivery of these vessels they will begin a multi-year charter in the deepwater sector of the Gulf of Mexico.”
