GTT, Symetrie mark ten year partnership

GTT and Symetrie celebrated the ten years of cooperative development with hexapod Sirocco.

For over 10 years the two companies have worked together on developing some of the most sophisticated testing equipment for liquid motion.

GTT called on Symetrie to help develop testing instruments that can simulate the impact of sea voyages via LNGCs on the LNG cargo.

GTT’s first hexapod, Sirocco, entered into service in September 2004. Since arriving in the GTT laboratories, it has simulated voyages of over 15,751,260 kilometers, the equivalent of 390 circumnavigations of the globe.

Commenting on this milestone, Olivier Lapierre, CEO of Symetrie, declared “Following the first request of GTT in 2004, we developed a range of more and more efficient and powerful swell simulation hexapods. The quality of the both companies’ engineering teams allowed us to address technical challenges and to provide solutions tailored to their needs. Our experience and excellent relationships with GTT led us to design and offer innovative and reliable systems in the field of naval testing, giving Symetrie an international visibility.”

Marking the 10 years of Sirocco’s arrival to the GTT laboratories, GTT CEO, Philippe Berterottière stated, “Test instruments have allowed GTT to make great progress in understanding the phenomenon of liquid movement. Today, GTT is universally recognized for our expertise in this area. That is largely due to the quality of its engineers, the constant efforts in research, the company itself, and also to the high-performance test banks.”
