GulfSlope said on Wednesday that the rig would be used for its 2019 Gulf of Mexico drilling program.

GulfSlope anticipates spudding a well before year-end in the Vermilion Area, South Addition Block 375 (Corvette prospect).

The exploration plan for this block was approved on March 15, 2019, with an amended plan currently under review with the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM). The company previously expected executing a rig contract for the drilling of the Corvette Prospect in May 2019.

Bassoe Offshore estimates that the dayrate for this gig will be about $75,000.

The E-102 is a high specification Keppel FELS, Enhanced, MOD V “A” Class, Harsh Environment jack-up rig that can drill to 30,000 feet. The 2002-built rig is currently working in the Gulf of Mexico.

According to EnscoRowan’s fleet status report from late April 2019, the Ensco 102 rig was expected to start its three-well contract with Fieldwood in June. The contract also includes one two-well option. The rig’s contract with Fieldwood is scheduled to end in November 2019.

Bassoe said that the rig’s start date with GulfSlope is set for November 25 and end date for December 25, 2019.
